How durable is Gutterfilter?

The filter is extremely durable. Made from exterior-grade poly-urethane, it was formulated to withstand all seasn weather conditions. While very porous and pliable, it is also highly resistant to physical stress and deterioration. It has a UV filter to protect it from the sun's rays and a built-in biocide (often used in carpets) to stop the growth of mildew, moss and other fungi.

When it rains, does the filter become so saturated that the added weight might bring down or compromise the gutters themselves?

No. GutterFilter only retains 10-15% or less of the water that passes through it and only for a short period before it dries. It's much too porous to hold any water weight. When gutters sag or collapse, it's usually from the weight of water combined with debris or freezing causing clogging. REMEMBER FOAM FILTER NOT A SPONGE !! GUTTERFILTER allows water to filter through were as a SPONGE absorbs water.

How much water can GutterFilter handle?

GutterFilter can handle the highest water flow. It has been tested to handle in excess of 24" of rainfall per hour - more than double the highest rainfall amount ever recorded. It even handles high-flow roof valleys.

Will GutterFilter handle ice and snow?
|

Yes. GutterFilter is impervious to winter. Made of exterior plastic foam, it does not freeze. It drains and dries so quickly, it won't turn into a block of ice, but keeps accepting more water. Snow and ice melt quickly due to the heat-absorbent colour. If it's warm enough to drip into the GutterFilter, it's warm enough to drain. GutterFilter also helps to avoid ice dam backups by keeping the gutters and downspouts clear and free flowing. Also, ice and snow sliding off the roof will no longer get hung up in the gutters it displaces the cavity of the eavestrough and you will not have to wait till spring for it to thaw.

Will GutterFilter affect my roof?

No. GutterFilter is preferred by builders roofing contractors. There are no damaging nails or screws and it won't void your roof warranty, like some of the cover caps on the market. It allows you to re-shingle without destroying your gutter protection system and gutters.

Do shingle grit and little pebbles that fall off the roof get trapped inside the holes of the filter or are the holes big enough for them to drain out?

Neither actually. Shingle grit is too large to enter through GutterFilter's pores and just sits on top. The pebbles also just sit on top. The filter is extremely porous and does not affect drainage or performance in any way. Small grit will filter through, but will wash down the downspout with ease their is nothing to block the water flow.
